Nuffnang’s Featured Blogger for the month of February!
Janeena Chan of janeenachan.com
1. Who are you and what is your blog about?
I’m Janeena Chan. I’m a TV and events host, hosting primarily for Upfront at the UAAP on ABS-CBN Sports, I’m also a youth speaker, voice talent, and I model, blog and vlog.
janeenachan.com is a platform where I share more about my life and style both on a professional and personal note.
2. When and how did you start blogging?
I actually started out hosting and modeling first. With the help of my sister, I was able to secure a domain name under janeenachan.com to exist as my online portfolio for hosting reels, photos of projects I have been involved with, and the like. With my line of work being in the media, I would fortunately get invited to special events and interesting occasions worth sharing. I would then post my experiences through my social media accounts on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Little did I know then, that this was already a form of micro-blogging. Because of my activity with social media, some brands and companies have connected with me via email, and have showed interest in collaborating with me as a legitimate blogger this time. So I thought to myself, why not actually try it out?
3. What separates your blog from other blogs?
Personally, I enjoy reading blogs and first-hand experiences of my friends whenever they post about something interesting or new online. So I think of my blog as simply a platform for sharing and engaging with a distant friend I couldn’t have a phone call with 24/7. I also treat it as a fun and more casual way of disseminating information and content to my friends, family and readers. I also blog to document —it serves as some sort of my online photo journal. So whenever I wish to reminisce about a certain trip, I can always go back to that blog post.
So you can expect more sharing from me! Be it my latest skin care obsession, make-up favorites, travel photo journals, or behind the scenes photos from my shoots as a model, host, speaker and youth advocate.
4. What is the best thing about being a blogger?
I love that there is a niche for every blogger—food, fashion, fitness, beauty, gadgets, lifestyle in general, travel, thrift, luxury, mommy bloggers, even kid bloggers! Yup! It amazes me!
There is also so much to love about this community. Usually you get to meet the same set of people from attending one event, to another. I’ve also made some amazing friends from the blogging industry. We help each other take our #ootds, collaborate with posts, conceptualize a shoot together to make sure the post has enough oomph, and the list goes on! I love the friends I’ve made in this industry and the fact that I get to be a voice that can influence change, and goodness in this world… one way or another both online and offline.
