It’s February! We’d like to shower as much love as we can, and would like to start off by throwing proverbial hearts at Gretchen Gatan of Greta’s Junkyard, our featured blogger for the month of January 2018.
We sat down with Gretchen to ask our five questions; read on through them to get to know her more.
Nuffnang’s Featured Blogger for the Month of February 2018
1. Who are you and what is your blog about?
My name is Gretchen Gatan, and I’m the Beauty and Lifestyle Blogger behind www.gretasjunkyard.com. I’m also a Managing Editor for an online beauty magazine and shop, and a Freelance Makeup Artist.
2. What can we expect from your blog?
As a Creative Writing graduate from Ateneo de Manila (before I took up a second diploma in Marketing at Ateneo Graduate School of Business), you’ll find a mix of heartfelt stories and animated anecdotes on my love for all things beauty and lifestyle.
3. When and how did you start blogging?
I started blogging back in 2013 because I needed a creative outlet where I could still write about anything I wanted. At that time, I was working for a digital marketing agency as an Account Manager, so I really wasn’t writing that much for my day job. Even when I became a Marketing Manager for four beauty brands, I wasn’t writing as much—it was mostly working with numbers and Excel sheets! So the blog was a channel that kept the broody writer in me sane.
4. What separates your blog from other blogs?
I think what makes my blog different are the stories I share, because it’s very me (they’re all very real and raw), and I never try to be someone I’m not. This includes partnering with brands and sponsors that also share the same philosophies as me.
5. What is the best thing about being a blogger?
I’ve been a blogger for almost five years now, and I can honestly say that the best thing about it is getting random comments or anonymous messages from readers saying I inspire them. More than anything, the reason why I love sharing my stories is because I hope people can relate to them in some way, and affect them positively. Also, another amazing thing is meeting my readers and getting to know them! I’ve thrown a few events with them already, and it warms my heart how sweet and sincere they really are. It’s such a fulfilling feeling. Lastly, Greta’s Junkyard opened up so many opportunities for me that I never would have expected—going through adventures and traveling, working with brands I believe in and being an ambassador for them, meeting inspiring women who continue to empower me, and the list goes on! I’m just so thankful and humbled at the same time.
