Jonas Roque

Nuffnang Featured Blogger For the Month of June

Heya, Nuffies! I am a software engineer by profession who enjoys doodling graphics design and programming desktop, web and mobile applications. As my way of giving back to Alma Mater, I am serving my college as a member of the Engineering Student Council while I am finishing my masters program in computer science. I’m a blogger for more than five years right now but the descriptions you’ve just heard have least to do with my blog. No technology review or insights on national and university issues. My name is Jonas Roque and I am the blogger behind facebuko.com.

My addiction to Facebook, my love of WordPress, my fond of pickup lines and my interest in pop culture created Facebuko, a spoof site which features a news feed of allegories and mock statuses of cartoon, TV and movie characters, celebrities, politicians and other famous personalities in the Philippines and abroad. Facebuko is a sari-sari store of “benta” posts.

Facebuko started June last year. It was accessible via facebuko.jonas.ph at first. Through retweets, replurks and reblogs of initial fans, just right after a month, the readership of the site grew and boomed. And what I mean by boom is that the site actually went down due to bandwidth. I decided to move the blog to its new server and to tag with a new domain name. Facebook also brought down the first fan page of Facebuko months after.

Facebuko begins with Katrina Halili and Hayden Kho and still continues to include the cirques of Philippine showbiz. Real actors and actresses have already picked up the site. I’m on high spirits when these entertainers got entertained and more importantly the millions of visitors that got cracked up.

I am just a casual blogger who writes personal journal before I met a happy accident that what we know now as Facebuko. I now blog for my readers. Facebuko opens opportunities to meet a lot of Pinoy bloggers and local celebrities. It pays the bills with less sweat drops and neuron activities involved at the comfort of my own time and place. It also brings somehow popularity — self-explanatory. Lolz. I want to be famous or to be well-respected maybe through the security algorithm I’d implemented or I’d cracked. I never imagined to be known because of jokes. But I’m embracing it all of these now. And I give a warm hug to Nuffnang!
