Hey there! Ferdz Decena here, currently a freelance travel writer, photographer, foodie and blogger. I used to work as a web and graphic designer, art director and editorial marketing assistant. My blog www.ironwulf.net chronicles my numerous travels around the Philippines and Asia.
My blog is more about travel stories and photography than a guide. I’ve always believed each person’s journey is unique and so I try to infuse my personal experience and observations in each trip. I’ve been blogging since 2003 when the word “blogging” wasn’t coined yet. Originally my site was a portfolio where I have a section as logs. I was able to use Textpattern, Movabletype and Blogger then. I registered my domain in 2004 and now is a self-hosted site using WordPress.
What separates me from other blogs? Hmm… People have always told me that when I write, they feel like I’m taking them along with my journey and that is how I always want it to be. I also make sure the photography stands out as well as it’s the first thing that they would see. I guess my background in graphic arts, magazines and a bit of writing helped me create something unique in terms of delivery of the whole blog and style of content.
The best thing about being a blogger is being able to share your life to the world and in the same way being able to help people get started on their own adventure. I always get a kick when I hear people tell me that my blog was able to help them somehow on their trip or be inspired to go on a journey and blog about their experience.
