Be a featured blogger

If you like a chance to be Nuffnang's Featured Blogger Of The Month, contact us at helpdesk and tell us:

1) Who you are (Photos of yourself would be a bonus).

2) Why you think we just HAVE to make you the Featured Blogger Of The Month. If you are selected, a member of our Nuffnang Team will contact you.

If you are not selected, don't be disappointed. There are after all 12 months in a year.

My name is Bobby Sangalang. No, I’m not a former writer, columnist, or fashion expert. All I am is a regular joe who wanted to write about men’s style because I felt that we guys don’t get our fair share of fashion blogs. I believed I had something to say with what I knew, and so, on that fateful January 2009 day of realization, Styles I Love was born.

Ever since I could remember I loved dressing up. Even when I was in my hip-hop phase with elephant pants and bandanas in high school, I believed that clothes communicated who you are long before you even spoke a word. While my preferences for clothing have thankfully bettered (now favoring more timeless pieces), I still carry that mindset of clothes-as-first-impression with me to this very day.

So what is Styles I Love all about? At first, I wanted to capture Manila street style at its finest, but as you will see, it didn’t go exactly as planned. I have street style shots, yes, but I talk more about items I love, general style guides for men, fashion events, new stores I frequent, and even art pieces that I enjoy, mostly about music and photography. As much as possible, I try to feature local topics to make it more available to my male readers. International stuff’s fine, but it’s with the local stuff I get a lot of praise about since it’s readily available to those who read my blog.

I think what separates me from other blogs is that I am relatable to my readers. I don’t come across as an intimidating fashion guy simply because I can’t be farther from one. I’m just a normal chap trying to look good while hopefully helping others do the same. I may write about extravagant brands every once in a while, but that’s not what the blog is about. It’s about styling and profiling within your means. It’s all about diskarte. I just give you the pieces and you put it all together in your own unique way.

The best part about being a blogger for me is not that I have the potential to get free stuff. It’s (and here’s where we get cheesy) hearing such kind words from my readers that they enjoy reading what I’m writing. The fact that they tell me that I’m helping them step their game up keeps me writing even on those long days when work was hell. I recently had a contest wherein I gave away some sweet prizes to my 100,000th visitor. I plan to do this for every milestone from now on to show my love for the readers because while I started the blog for mostly personal reasons, I continue to write for my readers.

With that, I say thanks to all who’ve been supporting thus far and for those who haven’t heard of me, give the site a shot. Just like my style advice, you don’t have to like it, but do read through it and see if you’ll find something of interest. Hopefully, I’ll one day reach my dream of turning the blog into the premier style blog for men in the Philippines. But now, baby steps, my friends, baby steps.

I’d like to give special props to Nuffnang for helping grow the already emerging blogging scene here in the Philippines. When it comes to writing, there are a lot of talented Filipino folk out there that can match anybody in the world in any field of interest. So keep at it, Nuffnang, and continue accelerating the development of the online community!
