Animetric

Nuffnang Featured Blogger for the month of November

Hi there, Nuffies!
My name is Rowena Wendy Lei, more commonly known as “animetric” in the online world.

I used to run the anime review site animetric.com before I sold it back in January 2007. I maintained the site for a good seven years until I grew tired of anime. I thought I’d be leaving the internet for good after that but I was wrong. In September 2007 I started blogging informally at multiply.com, and then eventually put up Animetric’s World at http://animetric.blogspot.com

I love writing. I’m a freelance writer for different publications, but my articles appear more regularly on ABS-CBN Publishing’s Working Mom Magazine. I was primarily a writer before I became a blogger. My works have also been published on The Philippine Star, Good Housekeeping, Cradle Magazine, Spot.ph, Health Today, and Yummy Magazine.

Since I can’t get enough of writing assignments, I decided to maintain my own blog so I can write about what I want when I want.

What is Animetric’s World? Since I am primarily a wife and mother to two beautiful children, I always blog about things that would interest moms like myself. Animetric’s World is all about food and restaurants, beauty products, recreational places and activities, movies, travel destinations, freebies (anywhere from free donuts to free post-it notepads), and interesting contests to join. It is quite literally, all about the things that make up my world. For my in-depth parenting features and articles, I would suggest grabbing a copy of Working Mom. ^_-

I refrain from blogging about things that moms would normally disapprove of like smoking, drinking, and skimpily-clad women or men. I’d like to keep my blog wholesome, thank you.

I’m a contest junkie. I join just about every kind of contest there is online and offline with the exception of voting contests — but that’s another story. The crowning glory of my contesting career would be when my entry bested over 2,000 others from all over Asia in Discovery Channel and Singapore Tourism Board’s Uniquely Singapore photo and writing contest. I won an all-expense paid trip for four to Singapore complete with 5-star accommodations and pocket money. We got to shoot a TV commercial to boot. The TVC was aired from March to June 2007.

Why do I blog? Aside from my love of writing, blogging serves as my outlet from the daily grind. I also love that I get to meet great new friends with similar interests online. Blogging has also inspired me to work on improving my photography skills. It’s still mostly a hobby for me though as I have our business to tend to and my family to take care of.

My most unforgettable moments in blogging would be getting to meet and talk to people I would normally just see on TV or the newspaper. I got the chance to interview BB Gandanghari and Senator Chiz Escudero face-to-face, and the way things are going, I think I’ll be meeting even more interesting people in the coming days. Recently, my blog was named as one of the finalists in the family and living category of the 2009 Philippine Blog Awards… much to my utter shock!

Welcome to my world… and thank you Nuffnang!

This is Animetric, signing off.
