Nuffnang Featured Blogger for the Month of June 2012
Who are you and what is your blog about?

My name is Abe Olandres and I am the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of YugaTech. I am commonly known online and in the IT circles as Yuga.
YugaTech covers news in the Philippine IT scene, and writes reviews about popular consumer electronic products. We also attend and cover regional and international events on tech.
What can we expect from your blog?
Expect YugaTech to be among the first online publications to deliver breaking news, relevant information and commentaries about tech in the country, and a comprehensive line of product reviews — from smartphones to tablets, laptops, TV and sometimes even automotive (which I’d often refer to as tech toys for the big boys).
When and how did you start blogging?
I started blogging some time in 2000 but never got serious until years later. I was more of a web developer and web designer then. I suck at writing so I made blogging a way for me to learn how to write and practice the craft. Until now, I think I’m still learning.
Around the end of 2005, I went full time with blogging and since then haven’t looked back. Now, I have a full time staff and a part-time correspondent that handles most of the local events that we cover. I’m actually looking to expand my editorial team in the coming months so we can bring YugaTech to the next level.
What separates your blog from other blogs?
At YugaTech, we try to be fresh, fast and unbiased. We strive to provide information that is relevant, straight-to-the-point and timely. We often buy our own gadgets to review (I set a monthly budget for that) and we go out of our way to look for news and not just rely on stuff being fed to us by companies and PR agencies.
We live, eat and breathe blogging. We’re very passionate with what we do and the readers see that. We strive to be transparent and our readers appreciate us.
What is the best thing about being a blogger?
You get to be your own boss. You’re the writer, editor, photographer, publisher, CEO, as well as the driver and the janitor. It’s fun to do what you love and make a living out of it.
