How much do I earn?

For Cost Per Mille (CPM) campaigns

  • What you earn depends on the number of Unique Visitors you had in the week that the ad campaign is served.
  • You will be assigned a "Blogger Band" that corresponds to your Average Unique Visitors.
  • For each campaign, you will be paid a fixed amount for every ad unit. The amount depends on your Blogger Band. The higher your Blogger Band (i.e., more unique visitors), the higher your earnings.
  • All information on your blogger band and earnings can be viewed within your CMS Earnings Page. All information will be updated within 3 working days after the ad campaign is completed.

For Cost Per Click (CPC) campaigns

  • You earn by the number of clicks generated by your unique visitors on the ad unit running the CPC campaign.
  • Your earnings will be credited 3 days after the CPC campaign ends. A CPC campaign ends when it reaches its maximum number of clicks.
  • Should your blog display a CPC ad but not generate any clicks on the ad unit, no earnings will be credited.

For Metered CPM (mCPM) campaigns

  • Advertisers buy a number of unique visitors of your blog for a set period (i.e., the campaign period).
  • Your earnings for mCPM campaigns will be held in Buffered Earnings while the campaign is running and until your blog fully serves the number of unique visitors the advertisers bought from your blog. Once the Buffered Allocated Displays are served and the campaign ends, these are added to your Confirmed Earnings.
  • The number of allocated displays is subject to change over the course of the campaign. This will not affect your earnings for the served allocation.
  • Note: All earnings are subject to withholding tax.

What are advertorials, and how do I earn from them?

  • As a special opportunity to our top bloggers, we offer advertorials - paid blog posts for clients, subject to client approval, and to the blogger´s personal disclosure policies.
  • Bloggers are free to accept or decline such offers.
  • Payment for advertorials is 30 days after the end of the campaign.

When do the ads start running?

  • (Please make sure you have successfully inserted the ad units - Large rectangle, Leaderboard, and Skyscraper - onto your blogs by referring to the How Do I Place The Code? section of this FAQ. We cannot serve ads to you if you do not have any ad unit on your blog.)
  • Before your blog serves any ads, it will show the Nuffnang logo to indicate that it is a prime location for ads.
  • Prime location for advertisers are: Large rectangle – after your first blog post. Leaderboard – above or below your blog name. Skyscraper – first item on the sidebar. The ad units should be above the fold.
  • You will not automatically serve advertisements because you have an ad unit. It is contingent on the needs of the campaign, your blog category, readership, and the location of your ad units.
  • It also takes 20 days for our system to crawl the entire network and estimate your average traffic thus determining the allocation of ads to your blog.

What do the different types of Ads Preference mean and do?

  • Ads Preference refers to how you want your Nuffnang ad units to look before you serve a paid advertisement. The options are: Minimize Ads, Show Charity Ads, Show Default Ads, Show Global CPC Ads.
  • Minimize Ads – The Nuffnang logo, or caption, "ads by Nuffnang", is shown when there is no paid advertisement served.
  • Show Charity Ads will show non-paying advertisements that promote causes such as clean-up drive, adopt-a-puppy, blood donation, or any community project supported by Nuffnang.
  • Show Default Ads will show non-paying advertisements that promote Nuffnang as Asia Pacific´s first blog advertising community.
  • Show Global CPC Ads will show CPC advertisements for CPC campaigns running. You earn while waiting for CPM campaigns. If there are no CPC campaigns, it will be minimized to reduce load time of your blog and our server.

How do I get my earnings?

  • When your earnings reach Php2,000, you will be given an option on your earnings page to cash out!
  • Nuffnang pays its Glitterati bloggers 30 days after their cash out request date every end of the month (60 days for non-Glitterati).
  • We offer two cash-out options:
    • Pick up the check at the Nuffnang office upon confirmation from the office that your check is ready for pick-up.
    • Bank account deposit - Give us your bank account details and we will deposit your payout in your bank account!
  • We are looking into other modes of payment for your convenience. Share your ideas!
  • Note: Please make sure that the payee name provided in the registration form is accurate.

What does the code do?

  • It allows us to serve advertisements onto your blog in REAL TIME.
  • It allows us (and you) to track visitor statistics of your blog.

How do I place the code?

  • You may refer to our tutorial (in the “Add Ads” page within the CMS) for advice on how to place the code.
  • If in doubt, contact Help Desk support!

My Statcounter is not counting! Help!

  • First, check if you have placed the code correctly. Please refer to the tutorial in the "Add Ads" page for guidance.
Useful tip: Default ads should be visible on your blog if your code has been placed correctly.
  • If there is no problem with your ad unit's code placement, please check if your registered blog URL is correct. You may go to your Blog Manager page to refer to your list of registered blogs.
  • If the code and URL are correct and your stats still do not count, please contact us at Help Desk support. Our team member will respond to you within 48 hours.

How do I change the URL of my blog?

  • Login to your account and head to the Blog Manager page.
  • Under your list of registered blog(s), click on the “Edit” link beside it and you shall be redirected to the Edit Blog page. Type in your new blog address and you may also optionally provide us a reason for the update.

How do I remove/add Nuffnang Ads from my blog?

Removing ads:

  • You can’t. Once you join us you’re with us forever! Ok we’re just kidding.
  • Just remove the ads from your blog but before you do so, please notify us first at http://www.nuffnang.com.ph/help just in case we may have some advertisements due for display on that particular ad unit.
  • Tell us which ad unit on which blog you are planning to remove and give us 48 hours to respond to your e-mail.
  • Once you have removed your Nuffnang ad unit codes from your blog, please remove the blog's address from Blog Manager as well. This is very important to ensure that our system no longer tracks the blog which may affect your Glitterati status.

Adding Nuffnang ad unit:

  • Step 1: Go to the “Blog Manager” page to register your new blog.
  • Step 2: Go to the “Add Ads” page, choose the ad unit(s) you wished to place in your new blog and add in the respective ad unit's code into your blog template.

Will Nuffnang Ads and Google AdSense work together?

  • Yes. Nuffnang Ads are not contextual and is not formatted like Google Ads or search boxes. You should not have a problem with having Nuffnang Ads and Google Adsense on the same page. Please refer to the Google Adsense Program Policies for details.

Do I get paid in PhP or USD?

  • You will get paid in pesos (PhP) currency. This means that the bank won't deduct a fee on your ad payments since there is no foreign currency involved.

I have joined Nuffnang for quite some time but have no earnings. Failing that, how do I increase my earnings?

  • Bloggers earn when they serve paid advertisements.
  • Increase your traffic in your own way, and engage genuine readership. Advertisers favor a blog with decent traffic and a genuine readership over a blog with high traffic with no genuine readership (Read: pure SEO-oriented blogs).
  • Make sure you have the ad units. All campaigns we run have Leaderboard, Large Rectangle, and Skyscraper ad units. Place the ad units optimally (i.e., Leaderboard above or below your blog name, Large Rectangle after your first blog post, Skyscraper as the first item on your sidebar) and free from clutter.
  • Achieve Glitterati status.

Wait. Glitterati Status?

  • Bloggers who are exclusive to Nuffnang achieve Glitterati status. Aside from higher payout and preferred allocations for ad units, Glitterati bloggers also get their payouts faster: 30 days after cashout versus 60 days for non-Glitterati bloggers.
  • To achieve the Glitterati status, all your blogs under the Nuffnang network must have all three ad units, and must not feature any other regional advertising platforms or any other advertiser that Nuffnang deems as a competitor.

I was serving an ad this morning. Now it´s gone! Is this a glitch?

  • More often than not, you are serving a mCPM campaign, which means your ad allocations in a given day are limited. This means that if your blog was allocated 100 unique views a day, and your traffic has exceeded this number, the ad will no longer be on display. Don´t worry: you make money from the allocations you have served, and the ad will be back the next day.

I have not been able to paste the Nuffnang codes into my Wordpress/Xanga/Multiply/Livejournal blog.

  • Free versions of Wordpress.com do not allow the use of Javascripts nor the editing of their template's HTML. However, hosting your blog by using Wordpress.org's files on your own domain will allow you to do so if you are able to set the file permission settings through your FTP.
  • At the moment, Xanga Themes does not support the use of Javascript as it prevents the "<script>" tag to be inserted when placing a HTML code into their widgets. Only the old “Look & Feel” page allows the user to insert Javascript. You may find the Xanga support forum thread about this here http://help.xanga.com/themes/Default.aspx?g=posts&m=6375
  • Multiply and Livejournal do not allow 3rd party advertisements nor the editing of their blog HTML.
  • To date, the blogger platforms that allow 3rd party advertisements are www.blogger.com, the old “Look and Feel” version of Xanga, Tabulas.com, tumblr.com, Diaryland.com, and full paid versions of Wordpress.

I am running an ad campaign on my blog, but have no earnings.

  • First, check your Buffered Earnings under Earnings if you have a mCPM campaign running for an ad unit. If you have, the campaign is running and the earnings will be credited when it ends.
  • If there is no mCPM campaign in your Earnings section, then the ad that you saw is a CPC campaign.
  • CPC campaign - Launched on advertisers' request. It shows on all blogs which have 'Show Global CPC Ads' and are not serving any CPM campaign at the time of launch. Payment is based on the number of clicks by unique visitors on the ad unit displaying the CPC ad. It will cease once it reaches its maximum clicks and update all bloggers' account whose blogs generated genuine clicks during the campaign. If a blog showed the CPC ad but did not generate any clicks, no earnings will be credited.

I just received an email that I have been selected for an ad campaign; what do I need to do?

  • Please make sure the Nuffnang ad unit codes are placed in prominent locations on your blog and wait for the campaign to run on the date stated in the e-mail. If your blog has a bad ad placement as is found to result in very low CTR, the advertiser may withdraw the ad from your blog.

I just received an e-mail that my ad units need to be optimized but they already are. What does this mean?

  • The e-mail is a notification sent to the entire network. If it does not apply to you, please ignore it.
