UNFAMILIAR TO THE word, you’d think that TransiTurvy may be the newest type of music or a clubbing event. It’s a close guess as the launch of TransiTurvy last May 4 at Bonifacio High Street and its tour at 360 A.Venue was no different to a party, an after office/post-dinner shindig for about 150 young professionals from advertising, PR, marketing, media and even the government and academe.
But what really is TransiTurvy? Coined by the featured multimedia artists- Jameika Ang, Jaspher Gonzaga, Paolo Lansang, Miki Lim, Brian Lu, Bordge Malferrari, Lex Ngo, Sharon Reyes, Francis Tang and Rico Tecson- it simply represents the differences of these artists. On one level, it is a multimedia exhibit showcasing works of select multimedia arts (MMA) graduates of De La Salle-College of St. Benilde (CSB) – but on another, it was a start of a commitment to make the Philippines the destination of choice of creative process similar to the business process phenomenon.
In the digital presentation played in latest Sharp LCD TV models, TransiTurvy is defined as a passage from one form, state or style into another. Twenty print works (on top of Lee’s Make History entries) and about 100 digital works made by 10 different artists surely had the attendees experience TransiTurvy while enjoying various music genre in the background and the Antonov and Don Enrique Mixkila open bar.
Behind the fun in this experience, TransiTurvy is also an advocacy supporting initiatives for creative services development. “The support for TransiTurvy is overwhelming and it shows that everyone is ready to have a formal multimedia sector and a creative industry that will position the Philippines as the next creative hub in Asia Pacific”, says JM Martinez, chief organizer of TransiTurvy and president of strategic management and marketing communications firms Reiner & Co./C|E|O.
Foreign Affairs Sec. Alberto Romulo congratulated the organizers, exhibitors and attendees of TransiTurvy in a message he sent to and read by Martinez. The DFA is a supporter of the initiative. Romulo believes that the exhibit “enables participants to strengthen linkages, present multimedia as career option, and instill in the general public a better appreciation of the multimedia industry”. A digital summit, creative festival and a roundtable of identified stakeholders in the creative industry are some of the activities that the DFA will support in relation to this initiative. “We will make partnerships for these future activities with key organizations like EON, Tangerine and SOMNICREATIVE who are our supporters in TransiTurvy”, Martinez added.
A TV feature on TransiTurvy will air on 2nd Avenue, their media partner and also a supporter of the advocacy.

These are great events to have. NN is an enabler in the creative industry. A social media for the creative industry. How many people know that the first original Anime on Animax Asia – Laminate Women was written by a pinoy Carmelo Junio?

Exactly the point of this exhibit and similar future advocacies, eximius. Creative services development in the country should be prioritized and make the public aware.
