Last Saturday, January 30, 2010, at Ascott Makati, Johnson’s Baby held their second Bedtime Discoveries event in partnership with Nuffnang Philippines and local female bloggers. Johnson’s Baby Bedtime Discoveries: Baby Bedtime A to Zzzs proved to be an enlightening and fun event that led female bloggers through their own journey of bedtime discovery.

What made the event truly memorable was the launch of Johnson’s Baby’s advocacy of Bedtime Discoveries to help moms give their babies the gift of good sleep and faster growth.

Ms. Tintin Bersola (who gave birth to her second child, Antonio Francesco, the following day; congratulations!) shared her views as a mom in hosting the event.

The first Bedtime Discovery shared during the event was the importance of sleep for babies.

Dr. Luis Rivera, Vice President of the Philippine Society for Sleep Medicine and member of the Asia Pacific Paediatric Sleep Association, shared that the value of giving baby good sleep extends beyond a good night’s rest. During sleep, baby’s body releases 3x more growth hormones than when she is awake! So, good sleep contributes to baby’s long term development.

Dr. Rivera explains show good baby sleep is more than just rest for the night.

In order to help moms give their babies better sleep, Johnson’s Baby shared the second discovery of the day: a clinically-proven bedtime routine. This simple and effective 3-Step routine includes (1) a warm bath, (2) a soothing massage and (3) some quiet time to drift baby off to sleep. The bloggers were treated to a demonstration of the routine, where they were able to learn valuable tips from helpful midwives.

Members of the Integrated Midwives Association of the Philippines (IMAP) share tips on how to properly bathe, massage and apply powder to baby.

Bloggers were then asked to explore something they know best: a website! In order to share these Bedtime Discoveries to as many moms as possible, Johnson’s Baby created the Bedtime Library. This website contains the science of sleep, more info on the Routine and a rich archive of tools let moms go through their own journeys of bedtime discovery.

Dr. Rivera recommends the Sleep Diary in the website to moms who want to track their baby’s sleep.

Nuffnang Philippines is partnering with Johnson’s Baby to advance this advocacy by reaching out to mom bloggers so that the importance of giving baby good sleep is shared to the community of moms online through the advocacy of Bedtime Discoveries. Some Nuffnang bloggers in attendance were Pehpot of Make or Break, Fedhz of Home Buddies, and Mi of miii.net. They, together with fellow mom bloggers, left the event as Bedtime Believers, understanding the impact they can make just by sharing their learnings with their readers.

Bloggers were welcomed to the advocacy at the event.

“I am a believer even before I attended the event,” Pehpot shares. “I do believe that we should make it a mission to give a good time sleep to our kids and Sleep 101 (in the Johnson’s Baby Bedtime site) affirmed my beliefs. It is very interesting to learn how a good night’s sleep can make our kids grow more. I do look forward for more events like this and I really like to help spread the word about it. I want to help in educating moms in the science of sleep and bedtime routine.”

It was an awesome year for us last year celebrating both our first year here in the Philippines as well as the first ever Asia-Pacific Blog Awards in Singapore! The ad ops officer will basically be in-charge of the Nuffnang System . He or She will be in-charge of building and serving ad campaigns, maintaining the Nuffnang blog, sending out mass e-mails, monitor currently running campaigns, be in charge of logistics for events and other miscellaneous tasks.

Interns

We are also looking for those students who want to try their hand and experience online advertising first-hand. We are also welcoming interns from various colleges. The interns duty, would be to assist the team in any way possible for campaigns and events. Whether it be research, brainstorming, or even the technical aspect of the job, the intern would have to be ready for just about anything.

Last November 21, JOHNSON’S® Baby held an event for moms and single female bloggers at the Conservatory, Manila Peninsula Hotel in Makati City. The event, titled JOHNSON’S® Baby Bedtime Discoveries: Bedtime A to Zzz’s, aimed to share with bloggers the importance of baby sleep and ways to help babies get that good night’s rest.

Tintin Bersola hosted the event for the bloggers.

Dr. Luis Rivera, a Fellow of the Philippine Society for Sleep Medicine, shared how important sleep is for a baby’s early development. It is during this time at night that a child is most receptive to growth: three times more growth hormones are released by baby’s body during good baby sleep. Thus the importance of keeping babies undisturbed and well-rested through these hours.

This is why JOHNSON’S® Baby came up with a 3-Step Bedtime Routine clinically proven to help parents give their babies better sleep. The routine was demonstrated by midwives, which the bloggers could try out as well. The routine is as follows:

Step 1. A warm bath to signal baby that it’s bedtime.

Step 2. A soothing massage to relax baby.

Step 3. Some quiet time as baby drifts off to sleep.

After demonstrating the 3-Step Bedtime Routine, the blogger attendees shared stories on how their experiences were in caring for their baby’s sleep during the early stages of their development. The bloggers’ personal experiences were very interesting and informative in that other parents in attendance were also able to learn from these.

A look into the lives of other bloggers sheds new light on how to improve other parents' experiences with their own children.

JOHNSON’S® Baby, in line with their vision of assisting parents through the experience of giving their babies the best possible sleep through their early years, released the Johnson’s Baby Bedtime website through BabyCenter. The website features a ton of information on baby sleep, tips on how to enrich the experience for parents and babies alike, as well as tools to help parents give their babies better sleep. The bloggers explored the website themselves, browsing through the customizable Sleep Profiler and the new Sleep Diary tools.

By the end of the event, the attendees were enriched by the discoveries shared by Dr. Rivera, the live demonstration of the 3-Step Bedtime Routine, as well as the introduction to the JOHNSON’S® Baby Bedtime website. The attendees were welcomed into the Bedtime Believer community, an advocacy shared by JOHNSON’S® Baby to spread the importance of faster growth during good baby sleep.
